The Beauty Of A Perch

Menacing & Moody
For small fry in the neighbourhood
The future is surely stark
Beware the large black death-stare eyes
That could easily grace a shark
Dressed in their best bright scarlet fins
They gather in their shoal
Cruising, watching, biding their time
Feeding, their solitary goal
That large cavernous gaping mouth
Bristling spikes on the dorsal fin
Charging head-long into their prey
Scattering fry just cannot win
A predator dressed in sergeants stripes
At home in the deep and the dark
The resplendent, handsome perch
One of natures works of art
